Selcia is sponsoring the International Symposium on Cyclophilins and other Foldases: Cell Signaling Catalysts and Drug Targets, which takes place in Halle (Germany) on September 19-21, 2013.
This conference is being held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the discovery of cyclophilin A as the first member of the new enzyme class of foldases, the peptidyl prolyl cis/trans isomerases (PPIases) in Halle/Saale.
The symposium is organized jointly by the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, the Institute of Technical Biochemistry at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg eV, and the Max-Planck Research Unit for Enzymology of Protein Folding, Halle/Saale (Germany).
Presentations are being accepted in all areas of foldase research involving cyclophilins, Pin1, parvulins and FK506-binding proteins (FKBP) with emphasis on:
* Mechanisms of action and biochemical effects of foldases such as cyclophilins, FKBP, Pin1 and other parvulins
* Development of PPIase inhibitors including cyclosporin, rapamycin, sanglifehrin and FK506 derivatives for use in therapeutic development
* Cyclophilin, Pin1 and FKBP mediated signaling under physiological and pathophysiological conditions
* Regulation of apoptosis, autoimmune response, allergies, inflammation, neurodegeneration and -regeneration by PPIases
* Function of cyclophilins, Pin1 and FKBP in viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections
* cis/trans isomer-specific processes in the folding
